Joy Crummie, a native Texan, graduated from North Texas University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Master of Music in Voice. She was on the faculty at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas as choral director and voice teacher.

Before coming to Pittsburgh, Joy taught voice on the faculty of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattisburg, Mississippi, where she also performed on faculty recitals and in operas

In Pittsburgh she was the Musical Director for the Odd Chair Playhouse in the South Hills, and also taught Voice, Theory, and Piano at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. She has sung as soprano soloist at various churches in the Pittsburgh area.

At Carnegie-Mellon University Joy was on the faculty for nine years as a vocal coach/accompanist.  She also sang in the professional core of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh for seven years.

She was the pianist for the Mendelssohn Choir for sixteen years, and enjoys many other accompanying opportunities in the area. Presently Joy lives with her husband a in Eighty Four, PA where she teaches voice and piano in her home.
